This episode shocked me quite a bit actually and we get answers we have been wanting to hear for a while and now that we have them I am still a tad confused but I will get there. Belle returns to the castle to inform them that Neal was absorbed by Rumple, who was now being controlled by the wicked witch. Their only option is to ask Rumple how to defeat Zelena, and to do that they need to break into his castle where he is being held hostage. Robin Hood who has allied himself with the Charming family, and Regina makes it well known she does not really care for his help. The banter between them in the Enchanted Forest like I said is great, and then to see them in Storybrooke being so lovey with each other. Regina, Snow, Charming, Robin, and Belle all go to Rumple's castle and Belle manages to get threw to him long enough to tell them where to find Glinda the only one who can stop Zelena. I was so excited to see Glinda appear because it is a classic part of the story, and also because Glinda would not be the one who could defeat Zelena. Only the purest form of light magic can defeat the witch and when Glinda tells that to Snow and Charming they of course go to Emma, because she is the product of True Love.
As we have seen Emma holds a lot of magic power in her and Zelena needs that to go away, hence why she cursed Hook and threatened Henry's life. Hook was never going to do that to Emma because of how much he loves her and how much she needs to let her true self come to light. Only when he has failed Zelena she is going after Henry so what does Hook do? He tries to get him on a boat with Smee to take off to New York where he will be safe. That plan might have worked but it did not because flying monkeys decided to intervene, and Hook did all he could to protect Henry. I love that Hook is so protective of Henry, and that he cares about him so much.
In the Enchanted Forest we learn that Snow is the one who cast the curse that took them back to Storybrooke. That was the only way to get back to Emma was to enact the dark curse, and with the help of Regina they managed it. Charming sacrificed his heart so that Snow could crush it and the curse would be cast. At that moment I could not believe what I was seeing, Regina ripped out Charming's heart and gave it to Snow to crush. Regina had tears in her eyes as the couple were saying their goodbyes, and I was just about to cry too. Once Charming's heart was in the pot the curse was cast, but Zelena came and put in the forgetting spell. Snow came up with this plan where Regina would take Snow's heart and rip it in half and give part of it to Charming. Oddly enough it was strong enough to work and that is how they are both still alive and well.
Henry was fed up with his mother's lies, and demanded to know what was going on but all that got him was Emma yelling at him. He then tries to runaway, but of course Hook stops him and takes him to the docks to meet Smee. While that was happening Regina, Emma, David, and Snow were trying to find the book so that Henry could remember, and believe again. Snow found the book and they raced to find Henry at the docks. When they got there, they saw flying monkeys and they took them all out, saving Henry and giving him the book. Emma tells him to believe in her and take the book, and when he does the flashbacks happen. You see Emma opening the door to a young Henry in Boston, them meeting at his castle, and her breaking the curse when she kissed his head. Emma was going to kiss Henry again to break the curse but that is when Zelena decided to show up. She was seconds away from killing Henry, but Emma showed just how powerful she had become. Seeing Emma not only use her magic but embrace it has been really awesome these last couple episodes. Zelena tells Hook that he has failed her and now Henry was going to die, but too bad Emma used her kick but magic skills.
Turns out Regina was the one to break the curse, because when she kissed Henry the curse broke and everyone remembered the missing year. It was super sweet seeing Regina and Henry have that moment, and it was nice that Regina now knows just how much Henry really loves her. We also find out who told Hook to go find Emma in the first place, and it was pretty awesome. Neal was the one to send the potion and the note to Hook. He managed to break free from his father long enough to write a quick note, steal the potion his father was about to drink, and send it off by a bird. Emma confronts Hook about working for Zelena, and he tells her that he had cursed his lips and instructed him to take her magic away. Now her trust with Hook is on the rocks again, but I am still holding out hope for them. Henry is then telling Regina about life in New York and he changes the subject to the man he saw her kissing in the hallway at Granny's. When she tells him that his name is Robin Hood, Henry thinks it is the coolest thing in the world. Robin comes in and shares a sweet little moment with Regina, and the three of them walk out of the warehouse together, now that was freaking adorable. It of course had to be a bit sad at the end with Henry and Emma going to see Neal's grave, and Henry putting a rose on his father's grave, but it was a really great episode. Then to top all that off Snow goes into labor.
