It was a pretty intense episode this week and I was just so shocked by this, not surprised just shocked. In the comics we saw the same sort of thing happen but with brothers, but it was just as heartbreaking. It is episodes like this that make you realize that this show is so different than anything else on TV right now because not even the kids are safe. In most shows you don't really see the kids die so tragically, but in The Walking Dead you seen kids turn into walkers, and you see kids murder each other and get murdered.
Giving a huge shout out to Melissa McBride for her performance in this episode. I could not believe the amount of emotion I felt toward Carol during this episode, she has gone through so much and she is still strong because she has to be. She doesn't just have to be strong for the group but for herself, because look how far Carol has come from season one. It has been a pretty intense season for Carol so far and this episode just topped that. She had to lose her own daughter but she knew that going on and being strong was for the best, but now she has lost Lizzie and Mika. She looked after those two girls like they were her own and now they are both gone, and all because Lizzie snapped.
I really have to re-watch this episode a couple of times to fully accept that it has happened. I love the acting on this show because it makes it seem so real sometimes, and in real life sometimes kids break down like Lizzie and lose it. It was not easy to see that is for sure, seeing Carol take Lizzie to the open space and just shoot her in right through the brain. Even now Tyresse knows that Carol is the one who killed Karen, and I think seeing her kill Lizzie to protect him and anyone else made him realize she did what she had to do. He let her know that he will never forget what she did but he does understand why she felt she had to do it. This season has been one thing after another and it is not going to decrease in intensity anytime soon, so tune in Sunday for the next new episode on AMC.
