Well we counted down, and finally we got to see Neverland. It was a very dark looking place, and lived up to my expectations.
The episode started off with Emma giving birth to Henry 11 years ago. It was a very sad scene because of course she gave him up for adoption, but she did not take one single look at him. Emma could hear his cries, and she was tearing up and of course torn up about it. I thought it was really good that they put that particular scene in first, and she says to the doctor "I can't be a mother." Now here she is fighting for her son, and she is putting her life on the line to get to him again. Emma is a mother and she now is kind of understanding what that means, and is going to protect her Henry. Also another little fact in the birth of Henry is that he was born at 8:15 coincidence? I think not.
The group arrive in Neverland, and plan a surprise attack onto Neverland. That does not go over all too well with Gold because he decides that he is going to be the one who saves Henry. Gold knows the prophecy says "the boy will be his undoing" so he is going in full force with Pan. As you learn later on in the last few minutes of the episode Rumple is already an enemy of Pan's we just do not know why yet. We do not know how Pan and Rumple know each other, and we do not know what that doll item is that Felix tosses at Rumples feet. When Gold is on the Jolly Roger he comes out in his black leather Rumple outfit, and everyone especially Emma just stares at him oddly. One of the scenes I liked the most was when Gold uses his magic to transport him onto Neverland, and then his cane falls to the ground. The stares are just focused on his cane, and that is when its sort of realized that he doesn't need it anymore. He is back in the fairy tale world, and he has his power again. His skin has not changed he is still very human looking, but he does not have his limp here in Neverland.
There was a great moment after Gold tells Emma that she has no belief in herself to save Henry. So she goes below deck and starts to do some pull ups to get ready for battle. Hook comes down to talk to her a bit, and to give her Bae's sword. She tells Hook that he has always been Neal to her, and then he hands over the sword. They have a nice little toast to Neal, and then Emma talks to Hook about him a bit. Emma asks how long Neal was with him, and Hook just says "Long enough to make me miss him too." That line had me tearing up, and I that was still in the first 15 minutes.
There are mermaids in Neverland of course those who know the story knew that already, and were excited to see these mermaids. I thought the mermaids were perfect, and were a very intense part of the episode. Emma and Snow caught one in a net, while Charming was trying to use a cannon on them. Regina just sort of sighed at them, and used fire balls to get them away. That plan worked only now they had a mermaid held captive on the ship. She called upon a storm, and they thought the mermaid was going to kill them. The mermaid tells them that they will end up killing each other, not her. Regina turns her into wood and says well that's that. That is when the fighting takes it to the next level, and Snow delivers a nice punch to Regina's face. Charming and Hook then start fighting each other, which leaves Emma trying to save everyone again. Emma figures out what the mermaid meant by they would kill each other first, and figured out that they were the ones causing the giant storm because of their fighting. So of course the logical next step for Emma is to jump off the ship. It gets everyone to stop fighting, and watch her dive into the water. Parts of the Jolly Roger are being broken off because of the storm, and one piece breaks off and hits Emma in the head under water. So Emma is no unconscious underwater, and Charming jumps in to save her. They all work together to pull the two up back on the ship, and hope for Emma to be okay. When Emma wakes up she immediately says "Told You." Emma likes to be right.
All the while Tamara and Greg have Henry in Neverland ready to hand him over. Tamara and Greg had no idea who they were really working for, and it came back to bite them. Greg told the lost boys if they did not tell them what was really going on, and how they would get home then they were not getting Henry. Then you saw the Shadow come and go straight through Greg's body. It ripped his shadow right out of him, and Greg fell to the ground. Tamra told Henry to run, and just as she was going to turn and run away she got shot with an arrow. For those of you who may like Greg and Tamara I am sorry but I am going to be glad they are gone. Tamara did not die from the arrow though, oh no her death was exactly what she deserved. Gold just casually walks up to Tamara who is trying to crawl off some where, and he heals her arrow wound. She is begging him to let her live, and she is telling him how sorry she is for hurting Neal. She then asks the stupidest question "Will you forgive me?" He simply replies "No" then rips her heart right out of her chest, and crushes it. I thought that scene was perfect, and it was the way it should have happened. Even though Neal is not dead they believe that he is, and she is the one that killed him. On top of that she kidnapped Henry and was planning to hand him over to someone bad. So they both had this death coming to them eventually, and I am glad it happened early so I do not have to see them again. Okay of enough of that.
Neal wakes up in the Enchanted Forest with Auroa, Mulan, and Philip. He is asking where he is, and when told the Enchanted Forest he says "I'm back here." Mulan mentions Emma's name, and Neal jumps up and says that he needs to find them, and get back to his family. Auroa tries to contact them via dreamworld, but that does not work for her, so Neal trusts that his father hid something in his castle if he ever ended up stuck back there. Mulan goes with Neal to the castle where they encounter Robin Hood, and Neal laughs a little bit. I am curious as to where his love, and their child is perhaps they got taken by the curse, and now reside in Storybrooke? Just maybe who knows with this show. Robin asks who they are, and Neal says that he is the son of Rumplestiltskin. Hood believes him, and Neal jokes "You don't want to see ID?" Robin Hood replies "Who would say they were that if they were not?" Good point made by Robin Hood, who would claim to be the son of the Dark One if they were not really. So Neal starts to look around for something that his father left behind, and then he found his father's old cane. Neal notices the markings his father made from his childhood when he was growing. That was another little sweet moment in the episode. Neal then wields the staff, and uncloaks a cabinet that was hidden. He informs Robin Hood that his father put a spell on the staff that would only work if he was the one using it, or if it was his son. Neal takes out a crystal ball, and focuses on Emma and his love for her. He then sees here, but is shocked when he finds out that she is in Neverland not Storybrooke.
While all this was going on with the adults Henry is off in Neverland running for his life. He is saved by this mystery boy who tell him that there is a place where the lost boys cannot track them. Henry assumes that he is another lost boy who is trying to get away. The boy explains that he stole pixie dust from Pan, and that is why he is hiding out from him. The boy tells Henry that it doesn't work, and it was useless and a waste of time to steal. As they are on the run they come to this cliff with no way around it. Henry takes the pixie dust, but the boy tells him that it doesn't work. Henry says for it to work you have to believe, and the boy tells him that he does not believe, and Henry just says "That's okay I do." They run and jump off the edge but are flying because it is in fact working now. When they land the boy uses Henry's name, and Henry is shocked because he never gave his name. Yes the boy turns out to be Peter Pan himself, and then he tells Henry why he wants him. Pan needed what Henry had, and that is the heart of the truest believer. When Henry put all his belief, and faith that the pixie dust would work that proved to Pan that Henry was the boy he was searching for. The lost boys come out after Pan calls them, and says "Boys lets play." That is going to be an interesting story line with Henry and Pan.
There you have it. Season 3 premiere was a success, and I cannot wait for next week. Emma has a run in with Pan, and he tells her that she will be able to read the map to Henry's location when she stops denying who she really is. That is going to be a great episode, and also Belle's story arc starts next week as well. Thank you as always for reading.
