Oh Richard Castle. That was my first thought while watching the beginning of this episode, when him and Martha went to dinner at Alexis' new apartment. Castle just could not help himself when it came to making fun of her boyfriend. I think they are actually kind of cute together, but Castle has no interest in dealing with their relationship.
There are lots of weird things going on in this episode that are very interesting. There is talks of a cult, and all this Da Vinci code type stuff going on. As usual with types of cases like this Castle gets very excited, and when the murder weapon is identified as a sword . Clues take them to a monk that they thought was the killer, and so they go to a Church . The Church leads Castle into a sword fight with a man who was believed to be the killer, but then they find out that this whole thing was all just a game. Historical buildings were being torn down all the time, and the historical society came up with this game where contestants went in and found all these symbols to win a cash prize. Castle is of course looking over again at the symbols, and see that they match up together sort of like a puzzle. Susana the victim realized the game was not just a game, and there was some meaning to the symbols. They match it up to a giant symbol that was back at the Church.
The clues all lead to half dimes that were first minted by the US and they are worth millions. So there is the motive for murder, and when Castle removes the dimes a trap is set off. Oh man I love the little comedic moments in this show, and Nathan Fillion just delivers it every time. Nolan Burns knew that the half dimes were there in the first place, and it looks bad that he hid the fact that he knew Susana in the first place. Susana was killed by her cousin who disguised himself as a contestant so that he could take the dimes. He was going to use the money from selling the dimes to change his life, but that did not happen. It was messed up that he killed his cousin.
Castle goes to see Alexis again at her apartment so that he can apologize to her. All she wants from him is acceptance of her relationship, just like she accepted him and Beckett. Alexis took a huge jump and grew up quickly all of a sudden, and told Castle off. Poor Castle his little girl has grown up, and a fight cannot be fixed by ice cream anymore. In the next episode however Alexis is asking for help because a friend of hers is on death row. You know that is going to attract trouble for Alexis, and she is probably going to be needing her daddy big time. Over all this episode was another winner for "Castle." Thank you as always for reading.
